I am a permanent resident here for the past 3 years . Me and my wife both hold permanent jobs. I am considering sponsoring my mother permanently to Canada. She is a diabetic for the past 20 years and is on regular medication. I was told that she might not qualify on medical grounds.

pls advs if this info is true?

Thanks

In my opinion, she won't be inadmissible unless the diabetes has caused other severe diseases like renal failure for instance.

Dear Massoodji,

Can visa be rejected becuase of a problem in heart? We applied for vist visa of my mother and we got echocardiography test done for her as advised by CHC subsequent to the the first medicals and the cardiologist has put in his report that she is suffering from congenital heart disease but since she is asymptomatic, she in a condition to travel and stay in canada for 1 year. CHC specifically asked if surgery is necessary and the cardiologist replied on 14th July 2005 that it is better to go for surgery. We have not heard back from CHC so far. If necessary, my mom is ready to get the surgery done also.

We also applied for sponsorship of our parents in December 2003 and at the present speed, it looks like our case may be cleared in Canada in 2 /3 months, when we have to apply to Delhi.

Please advise what can we do at this stage to get an early answer from CHC Delhi and advis the chances of getting 1) visit visa 2) permanent residence as and when their turn comes.

Getting the surgery done will remove a major obstacle. In any case, if she has those heart problems, it would better to have that looked at regardless of immigration plan.
