Working in the middle East is like being a High Priced Call Girl. the money is good but you have to put up with all the bad things.
Canada V/S Gulf.
In Canada you can go back home at 5 PM.
In gulf people slog till 9-10 PM in the ofice due to fear of losing their job and eventually many of them have Cardiac arrest due to the stress.

I partially agree with this comparison.
In ME if you are in the wrong place and if you don't like it you are in a similar situation to the Call girl, you work only only for money, compromising on all values and things you believe in.
However it isn't totally different in Canada either, You have to take any job to pay your bills.
Only difference is In Canada you have hope, in ME most of the time you feel HOPELESS depends where you are in and whom you know
I work 7 to 2 and have never slogged til 9 pm 10 pm ....... Gulf @ large has much lesser working hours then anywhere in the world ........... And as per hopelessness ....... I wonder about so many Europeons / Brits working in the Middle East.............. hopelessness is a personal attribute and a guy can change jobs in the Middle East as much as any part of the world.Personally I have switched b/w countries and companies with in the same country.
But yes ........ my personal exp is personal and not a rule as much as urs isnt. I think exploitation in India / Canada shd b more taking considering desperation and joblessness.

You are simply one of the many lucky few, If you open up your eyes wide you can see a different Gulf, However I agree if in the right place then Gulf is the place to be in, just forget migration.
I am right now in the gulf (Muscat). My situation is if you all will hear really enviable. I work for the Royal Oman Police and work from 7:30 to 2PM and am very well paid. 1051 Rials Omani PM i.e. say CAD a month.
But the job is not secured. As long as they dont find a replacement for me I'm here. That's the reason I decided to move west. Now what's ahead I'm ready to face what comes.
