hey friends......
I have a weird problem regarding parking tickets.
I work for a VW dealer and had a car at my disposal for a few weeks. Therefore, I didn't ask the landlord for a parking slot as i was using the visitor parking slot. I did call the parking company on their automated line and took the parking ticket number for 7 days. Last night I parked my car in the visitor parking slot and this morning when I came down I noticed a parking ticket from the city of toronto for parking my vehicle in private property without consent. The officer has made a mistake. He probably thought my car was in tenant slot as tenant parking slots were right next to the visitor slot where my car was parked. Though the ticket has all info on where I need to go to dispute the ticket if i want to, I want to know if i need to have a lawyer to do that and what expense am i looking at. The parking fine is for $30 and if lawyer is going to charge me for my case then wouldn't it be cheaper to pay the 30 bucks and get done with it? This is the first time I am facing a parking ticket and I am a new immigrant so have no idea how the system works. Can anyone please help me out! Thanx!

Don't bother with lawyers. It'll cost you a lot. You can personally go and dispute the ticket, explaining clearly the situation. It might be worth a try.
If you can't take the time off to dispute, it is cheaper to simply pay up the $30.

It is cheaper to pay $30. And this is only parking ticket and not the traffic ticket, so it is not going to affect your driving record.

I used to live in a Condo, and the policy was that if a resident/tenant had an overnight guest or used the visitor parking, they need to advise the landlord or appointed individual regarding this.
It is very possible that the parking lot company did not contact your landlord to advise them (its generally your responsibility). For future reference: let your landlord know
I recommend that you pay the $30 as it will be less headache for you. If you choose to fight this ticket in court then ... good luck !
