Hi,
Gulti's are not stingy ppeople. They are people from Andhra predesh ( Tamilians are called "idly's" in North India).
YEs. they gave me food but only when i do something. Like they will invite me and my family and then ask
what is RRSP
how to apply for passport
how to file income tax
how to cheat canadian govt.
how to get cheap flight ticket
what is Line of credit
which is the cheapest internet service
what is RESP
what is CCTB? etc.. etc.

These people are Non IT people and never use Canadian desi. That is why i am able to write about them.
Also i am afraid every time when they call me for food. I always think that they may borrow my money or car from me. In case you ask why they donot use telephone to ask me these questions, i never answer most of their calls. all calls go to voice mail most of the time. Even if they catch me, i will telll them taht i am going to my office and leave.

Oh i am so sorry, i thought these were the "stingy" desis whom you stayed with.

So now i assume these are the "IT guys on Work Permit"who have stayed in US/ UK- your wife's nice colleagues? a.k.a the guys who came to the little kid's bday party without presents? Right this time?

Ordinarly one would assume that people who know enough to save by not buying a kid a present would know how to get the cheapest airfare deals, line of credit, CCTB (which they hand you when you land at the airport itself) and how to get a passport (most people generally have before they land here, on work permits)

Which leaves one area of expertise they might not have- yet that is- cheating the Canadian Government. Now what on earth would have led them to think that you would be able to guide them on this aspect??

But then i am a 100% confident that you wouldnt help them in that area. I really admired the way you detested that friend of yours who after a "3 month software course became a famous software engineer"- who advised you to not surrender your ration card. Thats very commendable of you.

I am sure you would not even dream of assisting them in such a shameful cause. I am certain, most of us here share that confidence in your goodness and high cultural upbringing.

I was also very impressed with that clever observation you made about them being NON IT people (though i thought you had said that they were your wife's friends who worked in an IT field- but then again, its quite possible that they might be Non IT professionals working inside the IT field in your wife's office) and therefore being unable to post on Canadiandesi. That reflects deep insight on your part Sir. Who else but an experienced and old hand would have made such an astute observation? As i said, your posts are indeed a learning experience for us here.

Just curious, how you end up "going to their places for food"?? Especially when you-

(a) Dont take calls from them
(b) Dont take messages
(c) And when they do get you on the phone, you tell them that you are leaving for office

They must be very devious no?

Thanks for sharing these with us.

Oh .....so these were in fact the stingy desis you went out of your way to avoid when you lived witt them....one of whom "exploited you to the maximum" too......

You must be a truly forgiving man to go to their houses for food even after that.

You are indeed great.....I am sure you will have an appropriate saying for this.

Very revelating indeed. Thanks once again. Keep posting
