Finally I got a seat on the AF flight and made to Montreal. The trick that did was my business card. The call centre staff in Delhi are useless, good for nothing, just will operate the computer. That's it. So I went to the AF office, met the manager, showed my business card, told who I am and explained the urgency of the travel. I was told that they would look into it quickly. While I was coming back home, I got a call on the mobile that a seat has been found. So I had to reverse the car back to the AF office, got it done.

I never wanted to show my card, but the AF staff would never do anything. I was in touch with them for nearly 2 weeks. Anway that was an experience. Luf would do things quick on their own. AF sucks big time. You get what you pay. Cheap tickets, cheap service (I mean no service).

Wow, you seem to have been through quite an ordeal. I'm sure it must be quite a relief to get back.

DIO,
First of all Congrats ! on making it back to Canada.
Secondly, What kind of Business card did you show that the AF manager in India got afraid of? Did they respect the Canadian business card or the Designation printed in the business card?
Even my office has given me a business card which has my name , my degree and the company's location with the words CANADA on it. My designation is not there. Will this also work?
The reason why i am asking is that if people in India are afraid of Canadian business cards, then i can also use my buisiness card to get things done in India.

This is how it worked. Since I work for the fed. govt., told AF mgr that I was in India for official work with the Indian govt (to some extent this statement is correct) and need to be back in Ottawa on Monday morning.

Did not wanted to do this but the call centre staff in Delhi would not do anything for 2 weeks. I was getting worried since I had to change the date. Finally worked out well. But next time I will take Luf.
