Good and interesting topic to be discussed raised by Rahul. I really appreciate. On the other hand excellent examples cited by Shankaracharya and Dips. But my friends instead of discussing the problems have u ever thought of its solution!
Its true that we have become materialistic in todays world but how much we do gor others. i had a dream in my mind to help the poor since my childhood and there are many ways to do so but basic need is money. Now that i am in Canada I can really turn my dream practical, although it may take some time. As far as I see canada is well equiped in almost every field whether it is Medicine, Education, media, technology, transport....reason Canada has far less population than India and people are educated. But in India population and education are the route causes of India still bieng called as developing country. Corruption and althose social problems hardly matters in front of these problems.
Think if everyone is atleast school graduate wouldn't he think of his personal hygiene and keep his surroundings clean. He could atleast earn something. he will have better thinking atleast will have only 1 or 2 kids whom he can afford to raise. The good things will definetly follow. Moreover if the big celebreties just for the noble cause could do something to drag out these 2 major problems wouldn't India be a better, more better and still more better.......country. So if we are here only to discuss this problem that how long India will remain stilldeveloping then my friends it will remain like this for ever. But if we do have some feelings for our country then we together can and definitely do something by being more practical.
good luck
