Hi,
I do it for visitors all the time.
Does your mother have a pre-existing medical condition for which she is taking medication?
I know of several good companies. Also can show you a method of getting back what you paid.
Please see your pm and email tied to CD.

Hi Group
I finally had some time to enquire abt insurance for my mother. Since my mother is coming to Canada from Dubai, I was told that I would not be able to buy the medical insurance from India as she is not originating from india . Now I need to look for an insurance company here in Canada for my mother for 1 year. Any suggestions.
Cheers

Hi rsk12,
Here is my experience with Visitors Insurance.
My parents visited in USA from India and while coming from India they purchased ICICI Lombard Insurance and I again purchased additional insurance in USA.
I needed to take my fater to doctor's office four times and total fees was $600 and US based insurance company rejected all our claims stating that his illness was due to pre existing condition.
ICICI Lombard from india paid us $50 only out of $300 worth of claim.I lost two receipts so I could not claim $600.
Basically visitors insurance are not usefull for doctor's office visit or so.I think they are good only for accidents and all but don't expect them to pay doctor's office visit expenses and all.
I am not saying that you should not purchase as you need insurance in case of emergency situation.
Regards
