This is Mr. Massood's domain.
My experience is :
An efficient and pro-active officer can surely cut off one year from your 3 to 4 yr. waiting period.
However officers always rotate.
But be happy.
Small mercies.
A file passes through various hands - from the very first screening junior officer to an officer and sometimes to a senior officer. Don't get excited yet.

Thank you LD and Mr. Joomratty... I am back to my "sulking" couch again. I am desperate for some good news. When I applied, my consultant told me that it wud take around 2 years and I had planned everything accordingly. I regret not having visited these forums earlier. I was under the impression that we have only consultants in India and not immigration lawyers. Now each time I call up my agent for info, all he gives me is more excuses. People had advised me against putting my life on hold (during the waiting period) and I have gone ahead and done just that. I guess that is inevitable....
Thanks once again....
<I am back to my "sulking" couch again. >
There is nothing to sulk about. You are looking forward to a bright future.
The future lies across borders, maybe that is your destiny.
But it is not that the future at your end is any way less exciting than the future inCanada. It is just one single continuum. Do not see it in parts.
Do you remember someone telling you in school, "Oh college is so good. Once you are in college it will be all fun!".
Similary in college they said,"Once you are in job, you are independent, you can do whatever you want. What fun!".
Same is true about future. It is exciting. But as school was as much fun as college, or college was more relaxed than job; similarly it is not certain that life in Canada would be more fun than that in India, (or vice versa).
Reason is that joy lies within you. You can enjoy life anywhere.
<I am desperate for some good news. >
Four years is good news. Just plan what fun things you can do in India, which would not be possible in Canada. Enjoy company of your friends and relatives. Have ethnic food. Visit places, which people come from all over the world to visit. Have the best time in your life these four years. That is more important as you would have to do serious non-stop work for next five years or more.

Do not trouble the poor soul. He knows or controls nothing.
<People had advised me against putting my life on hold (during the waiting period) and I have gone ahead and done just that. I guess that is inevitable....>
You were advised rightly. Just put off the hold. Live life fully. These four years will never come back. Life is fun in India. Enjoy it. Believe me, you will remember it.
Best wishes.

Thanks a ton LD. I never saw the other side of the coin... Your response has certainly brightened things up.
Thanks once again and good luck to u too !!
What surprises me is that the question asked in Jan 2004 remains the same in Aug 2005 - WHEN WILL GET SOME ANSWER FROM CHC?
I suppose it is more than just the speed of an officer - something \"God Only Knows\" about delay in processing time.
It was predicted by many experts that early 2002 applicants will get medical in mid-2005 but there is no sign of it till now.
With time, situation changes and it might happen that the proposition which was good in 2002 might not remain the same now.......this is probably something CHC wants to encash and play with the future of many people.......This is simply disgusting.
hi sandy,
yes. things change in four -five years period substantially.
generally it takes 4-5 months to get immigration visa. after applying one begin countdown and lose motivation in his present job/occupation which results in frustration and monetary losses.also after span of 4-5 years one also not found enough drive to start it from scratch in a new country.then starts the process of settling which further takes 4-5 years.so whole process takes around 10 years to become a successful immigrants.meanwhile one have to sail through uncertainty, dillemma, frustration ,lack of interest and motivation .
LD very correctly advised that one should enjoy the visa wait pereiod in his country. you will never get back that time again.
some time i wonder whether all this 10 years period really worth, what we are supposed to get after being settled down.its really tough for first generation immigrants.
anyway just try every moment of your life fullest.
