im in toronto, scarborough.
and if any one had done that course before, i wud like to know how it wud cost me?
i do not have any career right now.
thanx
Your plan is very practical and correct for Canada. I know somebody who is an BE - Electrical Engineer (Gold Medallist)from India who had worked as an Electrical Engineer in ME did the same as you are planning. He landed in Canada had to work in odd factory jobs at $12-15 and then he did his electrician course from George Brown and now works as an Electrician in Parmalat as an electrician fixing conveyer/filling line and other milk equipment at $27 per hour with plenty of overtime. Whenever there is work involving climbing of ladders he will be first person to be "nominated" for this wonderful work while the Goras stand around with Timmys in their hand and discuss the work.
Be Practical for Canada. If you are an electrical engineer become an electrician, if you are a Civil Engineer become a plumber.
That is the Canadian Way - Like it or Leave it.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

Hello DG 1981,
In the classified columns of CD, you will see these two ads and you have a phone number there in to contact and talk to some one. Leave a message and they will respond back to you in due course.
IMHO, What you will learn in 36 hours is next to nothing and you will also loose out $1800.00 and you will have no books or course materials to even show for and come home empty handed.
If you do have good basic education and you have got it evaluated here in Canada, you can certainly take a course starting in the fall and between now and then (Sept) you can work as an assistant to an electrician, who will pay you handsomely and will train you partially to fit into the start up of the course, and you can go on from there and become a skilled electrician after the completion of the full course.
Please check the library for the college calendars and the pre requisites in your neighborhood colleges, such as George Brown, Centennial and the others in your area.
I wish you good luck in your endeavours,
Freddie.

Hi
Some one says correct. Person with degree is doing Electrician jobs in Toronto.
Nothing wrong. Problem is people r not ready to move out of Toronto.
I went through similar process.
But when tried other options like Alberta, yes there r good jobs but not necessary Electrician.
If you have good exp & well qualified try something else than Toronto.
If u want details about Electrician Courses or if u want materails for exam
let me know I can hand over same to u.
