Hello all CD's,

I came in canada with my family on last year in may 2006, I earned in 2006 around $14300 and i filed my income tax return as per my income. My wife did'nt work till we arrived in canada (for knowledge only). some of my friend told me that due to my less income i will get back the refund on income tax whatever i paid extra in deduction time.

Tilldate i did'nt get anything, shall i get some money back from Govt. or not? and what is time limit for that ? if anybody can explain how much should i get back as mentioned above my income $14300.00 or any calculation formula? I really thankful to help me in these.

If anybody know the contact information or where i have to contact please let me know. we are really confused if anybody help me on these i really thankful to all of you.

waitinfg for positive reply from all CD members.

With warm regards,

What??????????????

You filed your taxes and you do not know what the refund is going to be? You do not know what the calculation is? What formula?

Can I ask you how did you file your return? Because when you file your returns you file with the expected refund or pay the additional taxes if payable.

Check your returns and Lo Behold !!!! You shall have your answer.

First time filers have to wait long for the returns to be processed. Usually the wait is around 16 weeks but can be earlier. Call CRA for the status of your file. Probably your file would be at the International tax centre. That is where the first timer files are processed.

But sir, I seriously do not understand how come you do not know the amount of the refund claimed?

RBO,
YOu will have to contact them to see if they have received it. Call them or e-mail them.
As I see it , they have not received your form as they have already sent out all the refunds for the year 2006 (disbursed in 2007) and they are now cncentrating on catching the Tax evaders / False income reporters. They will be doing this in various stages until jan/feb 08.
Please sort out the matter the soonest as b'cos of non receipt of your income tax filing all your child care subsidy, GST/HST credit, Low income suppliment etc... will be on hold by the govt.. Maybe there will be also some penalty for you, for your second filing of the tax, even though yours is a genuine case. Also please change your postoffice thorough which you send all your mail.
Hope this helps.
