Interesting article

China has a shameful record on human rights. Some Chinese students held demonstration insulting His Hiliness Dalai Lama accusing him of inciting violance - outright fraudulent accusation against Noble peace prize winner. I sent a letter to Chinese embassy. Hope other CDs do the same to make them aware that world is watching though politicians are pissing in their pants. Our Madmohan has very descipable record and did not allow peaceful protest. When Chinese ask him to bend, the joker bands backward and then falls at their feet. Shame on Madmohan and Sonia, the white queen.

I think it is the left arm twisting more than China's protest which is forcing Congress.

Yet again, a shameful day for China in Paris. Protests disrupt Olympic flame relay in Paris. However, Chinese media did no mention of this (un)event.

Trust me, Indian politicians have by far sidelined themselves in this whole incidence. It's unfortunate as China is still persuing the policies of 'Hindi-Chini bhai bhai' while claiming the large part of Indian land in Arunanchal.

I wish Indian politicians to answer FIRMLY once and for all, just as they do with Pakistan.

India cannot afford open hostility on two fronts. China uses Pakistan very effectively to remind India of that fact.

Even without Pakistan in the equation, taking on China is more than India can currently handle. The Chinese are way ahead of Indians when it comes to power plays on the world stage too. They are probably even better at it than any other power in the world. Their political system where any dissent from the official line is not tolerated, serves them well, since they are less accountable to their citizenry on the issues of human rights, environment etc.

The recent Tibetan unrest seems to have exposed China to more criticism for its actions than it has been used to lately. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Heres a nice article from the TIME

I agree with sending the Chinese consulate a letter, I think that's a really good approach to make sure they get the message that the media distortion only works in China, people in other countries can see through it.

Besides that, whatever's happening with the torch relay is good exposure to the Tibet issue and the China's policy of hypocrisy. I bet they can't wait for the torch to get into a communist region fast enough and by the time its through, China will have been considerably exposed on this front. Whether it will make them budge is another story.

Like Jake said, there's no way India can take on China on this any more than they already are (i.e. giving the Dalai Lama a home and allowing peaceful protests).

I do agree with BLUELOBSTER'S point of view and opinion. We must use our right of freedom of expression through universally accepted way. Dalai Lama won noble peace price and is respected personality through out the world.

I agree with that India can not take on China openly. However, what pains me is that so called "enlightened" PM Madmohan has been utter disappointment to intelligesia. He prevented peaceful march of Tibetans to the boarder. I am sure even China will have to acknowledge that India being democratic society, has to allow peaceful protest which is fundamental right of people of open society. The world leaders, barring Sarkozy, have not openly come out against China, especially Bush and EU leaders. This is because of their greed and fear. Greed of cheap Chinese products and fear because of enormous exposure to China by way of investment by corporates. However, there is much more India can do and should do but alas! Madmohan and Sonia have sold their soul to Satan (CPM and CPI) for power. A small example. China is extremely reliant on India for Iron ore. India allows iron ore export without duty to China. While two way trade statistics do not reveal the fine print, Indian export to China is largely consisting of Raw materials and minerals to China while Chinese exports are finished goods! A slight tweaking of duty on ore export and imposition of custom duty on Chinese products will be a good start. Ratan Tata, a most respected industrialist and icon of India and certainly a political non partisan person has twice come out openly in past risking his business with the plea to impose duty on iron ore export to China.

I understand that the Chinese embassy in Toronto had issued a fatwa to Chinese students to hold demonstration against Dalai Lama and tarnish his image ( A very childish effort but their convoluted mind can not think any thing else) by branding him as liar and violent person. I am sure that Indian government could have covertly and overtly supported Tibet cause. If China can openly assist Pakistan and Maoist terrorist in India, can India not show its support to justified Tibet struggle? Is India really that weak that it can do nothing? Madmohan, by kneeling to Chinese has exposed India to much more risk. It is open secret that once Olympic is over, China will appropriate Nepal and then Arunachal Pradesh. Doing nothing is no longer option with India as Chinese, with annexation of Nepal will be in much better position to arm twist India. However, Madmohan's greed for power has made him bed fellow of Satan communist and it is just question of time before China becomes de facto boss of India. There are quite a few countries like Japan and covertly USA who can extend India help in achieving its limited objective to save its sovereignty. It is common knowledge that China has supplied training and arms to Bangladesh terrorist. India can at least come down heavily on these terrorist and confront China with evidence of their support to terrorists. I believe that doing nothing is no option though I do acknowledge that China is much stronger
