Hi

Yes it is five week Baby that i took to India Just recently and touch wood or by Luck my visit was awesome. My baby was so supportive no crying , no other medical problems.

U ADVISE PEOPLE NOT TO TAKE BABY'S ON PLAN, no body want to take young babies on long travel BUT I GUESS U DONT KNOW THE TERMS CALLED "EMERGENCY" , sometime people has no choice but to travel.

don't discourage people by advising not to travel the will only take decision to travel if they have no other alternative.

if possible try to give them some good advise how to take care, what are the steps they need to worried about etc...

YES, u must see the doctor before travel , take all the notes on paper, also get the doctors direct phone or contact info , incase of an emergencies you can talk to you r doctor

if you search the internet, you will see that no one advises to take infants below 3 months on a long haul flight b'cos of the reasons conaminated pressurised cabins on long haul flights which can damage the infants respiratory system. ALso if there is any sudden turbulance and all, any baby below 3 months will suffer the most. What do you if (God forbid) you have to do an emergency exit?
And pray tell me, what important emergency would allow you to take weeks old baby to around 1/2 the world in 24 hours?
I really wonder how you were able to apply for the birth certifcate, receive the long format birthcertificate, apply for Passport , receive it and then book the flight ticket and travel in 5 weeks... It is not impossible but certainly a marvel.
Just my thoughts.
I look for

Peace

one more note, i have a 2 months baby, he used to have lots of hiccups and now i have found a good solution- one teaspoon of Gripe water and baby feels more relieve. Better buy some from canada as i found it very useful (take the one without alcohol as recommended to me by the nurse) -

To tamil kumaran
I must say U r so stubborn and hard time accepting facts, what do u want to prove? Once I said I recently visited with 5 weeks old baby then u should accept the facts. Why would someone lie about their own child?

Remind you:
Birth certi and urgent passport can be issue in 3 weeks. May be some people are smart enough to get it on time and some are not.

Anyways I don’t need to argue on that issue anymore, u don’t believe it or not that is your problem

REAL Discussion

I am agree with New York, Gripe water (without alcohol) will be very useful

Also , try to take ready to feed milk , which comes in small bottle , you just need to replace top cover with nipples. It will be usefull since mother cant feed baby all the time.
I have took Nestle Good Start Ready To Feed Liquid ( keep them in pack boxed until u cross immigration) they will not take it away if its in packed boxed. Take it with your handbag

TK is correct. TK is simply "reiterating" the importance of not travelling with such a young one on long flights. He is not being stubborn. It is DEFINITELY not advisable. At the same time, it can be done as you seem to claim.

All said and done, if it is not some sort of family emergency, please don't subject such a young, rather feeble, little child to the tortures of air travel. They have very very delicate organs like ears and its eardrum that hurts when taking off and landing etc.

Bottomline: If you have a good reason and CANNOT avoid it at any cost, travel with the baby...I guess. But avoid it under all other circumstances. It is not worth the hassle and it is not good for the baby.

My wife travellled with our 5 month old and on the return trip the airlines missed the stroller. So she had to carry the baby ,half way across the world. Her arms were sore at the end.

She could not buy a stroller at any airport. Also the airlines were not able to give her a temporary one.
