Dear Masoodji,
I have applied for Canadian Immigration from U.S. I underwent medical examination in December and sent in the FBI Certificate along with the ROLF in Jan. There was no mention of sending the passport in, in the letter I received regarding the Medical Examination.
I have received advice from my friends who have immigrated before me that I should be sending in my passport, even if there was no explicit mention of it in the letter. Is this true? Should I wait for a final decision on my case before sending in the passport?
I would also like to know how long it is taking nowadays for Buffalo Processing Center to issue the visa after receiving all the necessary documentation and Medical examination results.
Thank you very much
newlight
You may send in your passport if you don't require it. It does reduce processing time by approx. two months.
Buffalo is taking approx. 3-4 months after everything is in but some cases have been finalised earlier. Time-frame is very much anyone's guess these days.

NewLight,
In my case, after interview, I sent ROLF. Then within 10 days, I got a specific request for passport from the embassy(LA). So it might not be a bad idea to wait for a few days before sending the passport.
Regards.
Hi,
In my case, I had an interview in May 2003 and got the passport request in Jan.2004. So you can wait for the request of passport.
Hope this helps.
Just as a follow up, I got my visa issued in less than 3 weeks after sending in my passport. Thanks Everyone for your replies.
