I put my PR file as a single Applicant on April 2007 under arrange employment section from Delhi and got PR in February 2009. I have to enter in Canada before 12th April, Now my problem is, I got married on January 2009 and forgot to change my marriage status in Permanent Residence file, so What should I do now? My lawyer asked lots of money to put my wife's file and extend my deadline? Should I put My wife's file along with my file and put a request form to extend my deadline or Should I enter first and after put my wife's file..............Please respond me asap..I m in trouble.
If your immigrant visa is already granted and you got married before landing, then your visa is invalid because of your change in family status. I do not think paying heavy $$ to lawyers will do any good.

When you submitted your Passport for stamping and the receipt of the COPR, were you married then? If so you should have given them the change of status at that time. Now do it belatedly with a statement that it was an oversight and file an application for Immigration for the spouse. Also prepare her for the interview and the other formalities, prior to your departure. You have filled your application once and should have the copy for your files. Go through the copy which will help you fill the next. Please pay the fees too. The financial requirements will also change, please note.
Then Immigrate first to Canada and wait for the processing to take place. When approved, she can rejoin you here in Canada. Time taken could be between six and nine months.
After you land here and stay in one place, locate the Member of Parliament for that location and ask for help for speeding up the process.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
