if its a web page popup its probably just an advert/ joke.

Does it say click here to remove virus or something like that.

yes it pop up says... click here to remove virus..something on those lines. when I checked it shows 29 items being infected, stealing password, etc.

I would still emphasize that you should use your company's IT department to remove the virus. Online/free programs are great but when it comes to work, you should not be taking any risks whatsoever.
