Indian police uncover fake Canadian visa scam

The fake visa service charged Indians as much as $21,000 to obtain bogus visas, police said, adding they believe the ring operated through a company called Kaavi Tour and Travels in Chandigarh, Punjab's capital city.
Documents and files seized by police indicate the ring, allegedly headed by a man named Anil Kumar - who has at least three aliases - may have cheated victims out of more than $650,000. That would make it one of the biggest visa fraud operations police here have exposed in years.
"People in Punjab are so desperate to get to Canada for work, that's why they fall into this," New Delhi police sub-inspector M.P. Saini said.

Soon we will have more of these imbeciles crying out hoarse that "their rights were trampled upon" , that "they have been discriminated", that they didn't get noticed and recognized as "visible minorities"?
Canadian society is "corrupt", "the MP's are useless", and we from the third world are treated like " third class citizens" and yet people want to get fake visas and come here............... is there more to it than meets the eye or should I feel sorry for these guys who will one day will join the long line of gripers?

Please let it go. You know opinions are hard to change, whether it be mine, yours or anyone else's. As much as I am thrilled at the entertainment value these threads are providing, we are losing productive discussions.
In regards to the Original Post, I can't believe those sums are in $. You'd think it's quite hefty even in Rs.
Anyway, lately, I've been getting emails from all over the world who are desperate to share their wealth with me. Can't decide whether to stick with lottery or the Ghana/Nigeria deals

This kind of scam spoiling Indian names in Canada.
In my company many collegues asked so many questions regarding this scam, it was so squezzy situation. "Why they are doing this? May be poor people in india? blahh...blhaahh.."

I think people follow different paths when genuine visa applications are rejected just because the visa officer did not like ur face. e.g. even the married people are finding it difficult to get sponsored just because the immigration officer did not trust the marriage. The marriage which was registered in Indian court has been given much less importance (Another discrimination which starts right before the person lands here). Parents from the south asian countries are put on 10 yrs waiting period to get old age pension while Europeans only wait for 3 yrs. (Nobody can justify this discrimination)

It is really very easy to point fingers on other as it hurts while you search your own soul. We all know till what extent people can go to get in to Canada. I personally know a girl from Ludhiana, Punjab she brought two of her cousins in to Canada by way of paper (fake) marriage. When she really got married Canadian Immigration Officer did not issue the immigrant visa to her REAL husband, now would you blame an Immigration Officer for this? And this is not something uncommon, you just check classified section of any Desi newspaper, they are full of convenient marriage ads.
When I landed in this country 12 years ago, things was really very different and easy, now everything becomes so difficult and hard.. That is just because of some bad apples among us. People will avail OSAP and after getting their degree they will go back to India/ Pakistan. People will get married to their relative just to bring them in to Canada, and list goes on..
Where ever we go we try to fleece the system and when Government try to tighten the system we start talking about our rights and discrimination….
