Hi to all desibhaio owr beno,
I am Planning to visit alone to Can ( ON) on PR . Depending on the situation I may stay for a year or so,or return back to India. In this condition I think Term LI is better option. I would like to Know,
1. What is the premium for Term LI. ( I am 41 yrs, no histery of illness)
2. In PR status , am I eligible for OHIP ( On health Benifit Card),if so do I need to pay?
3. Details of OHIP vs LI.
4. Is OHIP valid if I want to move to other region ?
Thanks
I thank all desi for their contribution, it has helped me a lot.

Dear Shah_mn,
OHIP and Term LI are two different things. OHIP is "Ontario Health Insurance plan. Its like our Mediclaim sold by General Insurance companies in India. Where as, Term LI is a life insurance.
A resident of Ontario must have a health card to show that he or she is entitled to health care services paid for by OHIP.
In my openion, both are must. You are right that its better to buy a term insurance. But see that in canada, unlike india where a TERM policy is a pure risk cover plan, in canada you can have two options. I mean a pure TERM insurance, which is bought only to cover the DEATH benefit and a product like TERM-100, which has a cash value building in it. You can even have ROP (Return of premium)kind of TErm policy. We have this in INDIA, where the life insured gets his money back at the end of the policy as survival benefit. However there is not bonus or interest addition.
I hope you may find this data of some worth to you.

VJ
Thank you for ur advice, Do we need to pay for OHIP
Regards
Shah
Dear Shah_mn,
As far as I know, we do not have to pay for OHIP. But it would start after the first 90 days of your landing. I mean you can apply for OHIP after 90 days.
Hence, its advisable to go for a 90 days health plan from any reputed indian/canadian insurance company. In my openion, due to a sudden change of weather, one can always be prone to illness, hence its better, you have a cover booked even before you land in Canada.

VJ
