Dear Friends,

Our company is led by immigrant Indians who believe that we the largest minorities, deserve a national media platform.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that our company has recently been awarded approvals to launch two fresh new Hindi channels.

The uniqueness of the channels would be that they would bring you an exciting mix of local and international programing. The channels would be in High definition and also available in standard definition. We need your advice to help us be sucessfull.

The biggest question for us is \"What should be the price for the Channels\".

The channel details are a follows:

1) Mehndi TV - is a woman centric channel. Imagine the equivalent of \"W\" in Hindi. Please let us know what you would like to see and what you wont. How many hours of Saas Bahu soap do you watch in a day, would you like to see international documentaries, should we include children's programing, how about news, etc etc. We welcome your advice.

2) Bollywood Times TV - would be an entertainment channel that will bring the best of Hindi films and shows in high definition. What films and shows would you like to watch. What events should we bring to Canada. How should we promote our local talents. Where do we find our next Lisa Ray, Kamal Sidhu or Ruby Bhatia.

We do look forward to your comments.

Regards
FDR Media Group

Free - FTA. Your business model should give you a streaming revenue from ads.

Hi Iceberg -

We would love to make it FTA but unfortunately two things prevent us:

1) FTA is a license issue. Distribution in Canada is through Cable and sattelite companies who are not favourable to the "Free" model. Also Canada transits into digital distribution in 2011 and all OTA may cease.

2) Current service leader (ATN) has set the maket price at $15 for one and $25 for two. We would like to understand what the community believes is a fair price to pay.

Thank you for taking time to respond.

I dont mind paying $3 per month for each channel. If I am getting 15 hindi channels then its okay to pay 45 or $50 for one month. ATN is full of junk programs .. ( except couple )I dont like that channel.

I agreet with 7wonders comment.
ATN is full of junk.

We were forced to take it due to CRTC linkage requirements, the basis of which I fail to understand. The programming guide for ATN is never in sync with what is shown, so that make's it even more difficult.

We are a young family and during weekdays, we basically get time only between 8:30pm and 10:00pm to watch TV.

We thoroughly enjoy watching Sony in this time slot.

We enjoy Comedy Circus, Indian Idol, Boogie Woogie.

For a local channel, would prefer to get upto date listing of what desi events are happening around town.

We don't care much about watching video feeds of the local events/ shows as they are of poor lighting and audio.

Price wise, the max we would be willing to pay is $10 as you have to remember that one has to pay close to $50 for basic cable, which is the bare minimum with Rogers to get any desi channels.

ATN is junk. We are forced to pay the price because of high political connections of the greedy fellow Chandrasekhar who is the owner of ATN channel. If the new channels club with ATN and I am sorry to say that it may not get desired results.
