How does one take care of properties bach home in India?

Hi all,

In case you have a property back home how to ensure that it is not unlawfully occupied. How do you maintain records, pay taxes on them and ensure that false power of attorneys are not made..........because as the property prices rise and the inflation too............ some unscruplous people could try to make use of the opportunity that the person it belongs to is far away and cannot do anything substantial and have no time to file cases and police complaints

So how does an NRI take care of his property?

If you do not have friends and relatives to take care of house, it is tough.

There is a service called "Your man in india," Google for it though I do not know how good it is.

It is tough unless u have relatives / friends who will go out of their way and do it for u. One needs to keep a tab on the properties if u r out of the country. Its easy to create fake papers that too when they realise that the owner is out of the country.

If u have a flat, u can rent it out to corporates where the rent comes from the company rather than an individual. But make sure its not kept empty for a long time. Some lcoal rowdy can break the lock and enter and stay there. If u have a vacant plot, one needs to keep tab, else one can create a fake POA. If u go to court, it takes a long time (u know how the legal system works in India) creating headache for u.
