Actually. my problem is that i have sent my passport for my H1B revalidation. That process will take 3 months and it hasen't even been one month after i sent the passport.

Will the indian consulate do it without my original passport. I can give them a photocopy and i can be there in person.

Does anyone know if this will work???

Hi waiting,

They will need the original passport as they stamp on the passport that they had issued a PCC for Canadian Immigration purposes. But you can contact the Indian embassy.

All,
According to Indian GOv rules, person residing abroad cannot be given PCC if applying from India. They have to apply in the Indian Embassy of the country they are living in (US in this case). Also, you dont need the original passport while applying. Give them a copy of your passport and pay the fees. When they call you back in a month, you have to take the original passport and they will give you the PCC. I was exactly in the same situation as you are now (I had also sent passport for multiple entry), and this was my personal experience.

When you say "Address in the passport" are you referring to country of issue or the exact place of issue. Please clarify...

Hi experts,

Iam currently in India and moving to Toronto next month on my Study Permit (MBA at Rotman, UofT). I plan to apply for PR (from Buffalo Consulate) soon after I land up in Canada.

Is it TRUE that CIC has stopped accepting PCC from Passport offices and accept it ONLY from the local Police Station/Commisioner's office? Please advise. Ref: http://canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=1748&page=1

My passport was issued in Delhi and therefore, I can get my PCC from Delhi Passport Office in 1-2 days without much hassles. However, it would take quite a long if I have get it from the Police station. Hence the worry...
