I am a permanent resident of Canada and have been outside Canada for more than 6 months. However, I have been working for a Canadian firm remotely, and automatically my income is taxed and I receive a T4 slip for it.

I wanted to know if there is any form of tax credit that I can apply for.

Thanks,

Not sure what credit you are specifically looking for. You will have to file your taxes, if you haven't done already. The filing will take you through all the deductions, credits, etc you are eligible for, and you'll see either refund owed to you or amount owed by you.

I am referring to any tax credit which is given to out of country residents... as they are not using the facilities in Canada, so I am assuming there might be some kind of tax credit...

Since you will receive the same privileges as that of a tax resident, you will have the same obligations as that of a resident. No special tax credits due to your physical absence from the country.

However, if you earn income in the country (from that country) you are residing now, that income will be taxed in the resident country (again, depending on the country you live in). This portion of the income can be taken as a foreign tax credit in your cdn taxes. This is done to avoid double taxation and is only available if there is some form of treaty between the country you are living in and Canada.
