Initially, NASA only Hired U.S. Citizens. Then NASA closed its doors. So, I am unable to qualify my own statement, as I do not know what their current hiring policies are? Also, do not know why they hired an Indian and a junior Engineer, at that. So, I will agree with you and say, I do not know why, also. New policies may not need to make an exception. But it is nice to see that an Indian got hired at NASA, I am just happy, not that proud or elated.!!

It seems to be a mixture of true and made up story. Apart from forum and Facebook write ups, there is a no credible published material available that NASA made any kind of exception.

My apologies everyone.
It was a hoax.

Hiren
This might have been a hoax. But the NASAs launch of the shuttle that blew up right in their face, is not.
You might have heard about the Chinese and the Russian Diwali crackers, that fizzle out, that is what I thought happened with NASA's Diwali Celebrations.
Now add this to the launch and we all can have a laugh.
FH.
Hope some one hears about it at NASA and gives him an opening, if not now, later, after his graduation.
