Work Permit to PR
Dear Friends , I have come on IT work permit 3 months back , I plan to apply for my PR this month , can any one please inform me the time that it will take me to get my PR .
I have been receiving different information regarding the time factor , some tell me that it will take 12 months , some tell me that it will take not less than 4 years ( for IT skill worker ) my company tells me that it will take 6 months .
I have also got the latest information from my friend , that I cannot apply before 1 year , that I must have 1 year continuous stay before I apply for my work permit .
Could some one please help me out with the correct information, am confident of this forum as I have been getting the right picture from Canadiandasi .

ADDITIONAL INFO IS THAT....
I have got a pre approved HRDC job (software developer ) but no letter from HRDC approving the same , just a letter from my company stating that it is a HRDC pre approved job. Am presently working for the company in Manitoba, will it be better for me to go through the provincial nomination program of Manitoba or the federal process through Buffalo . Thanks again for all the help

Hi Adrin,
You have got your work permit for 3 years, and you have been employed in Manitoba. You should not be worrying about any thing
1. If you go for the Provincial nomination the processing is quick than the normal process. In any case no one can predict the exact time its going to take. But I am sure not 4 years. You may expect in around 6-12 months.
2.What your friend said is not correct, The law says that you should have been permitted to live in Canada for a year or more. In that case you have your work permit for 3 years and hence you can apply for your immigration any time and you dont have to wait for 1 year. This laws main objective is to crub people who apply for immigration on Visitor Visa.
3.You dont need a seperate letter from HRDC, the work permit you have is the evidence that you have been approved by HRDC.
Now make your application accordingly and make sure you dont make any mistakes. The letter from the company will be helpful. Collect your previous experience letters and apply as soon as possible.
All the best
