Please look into older threads. I have seen people who have written about their or others' experience on bringing the child on a TRV and then sponsoring for PR once in Canada.

Currently they have been a little lenient and have been issuing a TRV for a few and I am sure you will be able to get it too.

But keep on renewing the visa till everything comes through and do not lose the visa status. (So keep asking for the extensions till it gets through.)
