Hmm.. reminds me of the situation I was going through in March/April after attending a couple of telephonic interviews and waiting for results from background checks! Don't worry, it will all work out just fine! :)

Thanks for the encouraging words. How long did your background check go?

Thanks! Yeah, I gotta start planning for the move. I'm going to give my 2 weeks notice to my current employer as soon as I get the paperwork done.

I work as a Technical Recruiter with an established firm in downtown Toronto. IT trend is looking very encouraging and standards of expectations from organisations are also growing. Many who are coming from US or elswhere (particularly with Asian background) have been asked for rigourous reference checks as they 'build' their resumes to have a fantastic skills-set. Anyone can by-heart technologies and upgrades in order to 'qualify'. But, once they start talking, you know that the resource is cheating on skills etc. There are plenty of those who claim 'rare' combo of skills, are practically wanting to come to Canada for x or z reason. Their references are also their pals who want to 'help' them to reach their goals (at the cost of recruiting firm or client)! There is no law yet in Canada that can hold references accountable in legal ways.
The honest Canadian market still prefers Goras for these reasons! And, that's how honest desis cannot understand the barrier of so-called Canadian experience.
I have sourced Europeans in SAP space with mind-boggling costs on this issue alone!

Anyway, it all depends how much the resource has to offer in order to claim great money!

I wish all honest Desi IT pros a big welcome and good luck.

Hi Nyopi!
Congratulations and good luck!
So, the job is in Toronto, is it?

Hi Cowboy,
I totally agree with you. Fake certificates and doing a computer course , or just learning something, just before you land in Canada may not do any good. When people with real talent get jobs in Canada, irrespective of their age, it is brushed as mere luck.It is not.Hope Desis realise that.
:)
