Hello CD members,
Aug. 07 th. of this month is a long weekend. Me and some of my family members (incl. females and an infant) have decided to spend a night in a Hotel at a town/city which has a lot of places to visit around it for 2 days.
Can CD members suggest from their experience what places would be best?
We are opting out of Niagra, 1000 Islands,Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec city and the USA.
We are looking at a 3-4 hour single way drive from the GTA. Cheap accomodation tips also needed.
All answers welcome and appriciated.

Since no CD member had replied and helped me to choose a venue, I choose this following trip for the coming long weekend.
I am going to visit Parry sound and Sudbury for this long weekend. Parry sound has 3 provincial parks around its jurisdiction which i hope to explore incl. georgian island park. I will get more info. from the web and post it for our CD members use. I will stay overnight either at Parry sound or Sudbury. Also i hope to visit North bay also if my car brakes are still fine after the trip (my car brakes is worn out but i donot want to change it before this long weekend).
Another Good place to visit is the Aloquin provincial park but since i am not a nature lover nor a camper, i ditched the idea of visiting this place. maybe other CD's can visit this place.
If any Desi wants to combine this as a trip, then they are more than welcome.
Comments requested .

Now that's a big risk, not only to yourself but to motorist around you. I wouldn't take such chances, but then that's me.

Goodluck for your trip.

Thats interesting...I also plan to visit Georgina Islands on sunday if I have the energy after Friday and saturday...however there is very little information available about the place except the website http://www.georgiaisland.com" rel="nofollow">LINK which is not very tourist friendly...

share more info if you can get hold of any..

Hiren,
Your link is something else.
I am talking about Georgian Bay Islands. It is part of the 30,000 islands in Georgian Bay area, Near Parry sound (2 Hour drive from the GTA).
There are a lot of cruises which show these islands and it is a lot better than the 1,000 Islands near Kingston.
I hope that you were also thinking of going to the same place that i am talking about.
I will be in a Black Toyota Corolla (Name plate: ATHL and 3 digit number) with a female adult and a infant in a light brown color stroller. I will be around 5'-8", light black w/ no mush. and overweight with a white and yellow color cap and sunglasses. If we happen to be at the same place, please feel free to come and introduce yourself and we can talk about CD and life in general.

Afternote : I also plan to visit North Bay on the banks of Lake Nippising.
Georgian Bay has a lot of cruises with rates typically $22 for a 2 hour ride and $30 for a 3 hour ride. Besides , since this is a 30,000 island area, there are cruises starting from each and every village/ town on the way. I even saw a cruise from a village with rates of just $30 for a 2 hour cruise (buffet incl..).
One thing which baffles me is the rate for hotels. They are costlier than what it is in Toronto. For. eg. Motel 8 at Parry sound has the cheapest Double bed rate at $107 (before Taxes). Even bed and breakfast rooms are $90+ for a double bed room with common toilets. These B&B are mostly housed in historic houses which mean nothing to a desi like me since in India Historic means atleast 500 years old plus.
