Hello All,
I am into buying a used 2009 Toyota Hybrid wherein dealership is offering 3 years warranty for $2000.Currently this car has 80k mileage on it.
Will it be worthwhile to spend this extra $2000.
Also when I asked my mechanic he rarely deals with Hybrid but says it is almost same stuff.
This Warranty covers following:
Automatic Transmission
Front/rear wheel drive
Cooling system
Engine
The warranty does not covers following:
exhaust system
brakes pads
bulbs
trim
oil change
Toyota and Honda have a solid reputation for their well built and reliable vehicles . Hybrid vehicles have longer warranty on many parts from the manufacturer . Check the details from the dealer .
If I was you I would keep this money aside for rainy days rather it tendering to dealer up front .

I defer to AshwaniG.
Getting the Warranty for 3 additional years foro $2K is worthwhile especially when you are buying a used vehicle. You dont know what repairs were done (some you may know but most you may not know). I got the warranty for both the used vehicles and was glad to have it included in the price. With one vehicle heating and AC issues cost was totalled upto $1850 and I had paid the warranty of $800 that time. For other one, the fluid of rear door leaked the cost was $500 to get it fixed. Got my money spent on warraty recovered.
Just check carefully what is covered and what is not. and try to negotiate the price on warranty they should be able to do that considering the age and mileage of the vehicle.
Good luck and enjoy your ride.
I concur with Bhootnath . If your vehicle requires a serious repairs that may leave a big hole in pocket .
I was just lucky with all my previous NA clunkers not requiring any repair till I drove them to ground .
Are you getting a vehicle from a Toyota dealer ? Is it CPO !
Bhootnath : Despite I totally agree with you , still if it was me buying a CPO vehicle from a reputed dealer , I would not but extended warranty . But thats just me .

have you ever checked the trunk of a camry hybrid? they have placed the batteries there and the cargo space is way too less, and also during winter season you will have difficulty driving through snow and slush, as the car will get confused when to lock into gas or battery, would prefer a gas version
