ISKCON Brampton is pleased to invite you all for the 2nd Annual 'Festival of Chariot' in Brampton.
About Ratha Yatra
Seated on the chariot are beautifully bedecked Deities of Jagannatha (another name for Krishna or God), Baladeva (Krishna’s brother), and Subhadra (Krishna’s sister). The procession itself symbolizes the pulling of the Lord into our hearts and thus is done with great pomp and grandeur. Once each year, Lord Jagannatha travels out to spread His mercy. Those who have the good fortune to view the Jagannatha Deities, or who help to pull the chariots along on their ropes, are benedicted by the Lord during the ratha yatra parade.
Rath Yatra is a great festival because of its ability to unite people in the festivity. Everyone gets an opportunity to pull the Chariot and enjoy all the activities offered.
In the late 1960s, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the worldwide Hare Krishna Society (ISKCON), inaugurated the North American and international versions of this ancient Indian festival. With roots steeped in spiritual traditions, the festival is now celebrated in every major city around the world, including London, Paris, Sydney, and New York.

This event is organized by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Brampton, a charitable organization since 2006. Situated in the heart of Brampton, ISKCON Brampton is engaged in systematically propagating spiritual consciousness to the society through the teaching of ancient Vedic scriptures. By bringing everyone to a spiritual platform, we aim at bringing peace and harmony in the community of Brampton.
