One of the better movies in suspense genre.
The movie revolves around SV (Abhay Deol) who has been suspended from his job as junior engineer in PWD. He is also a failed writer and is trying to get into the journalism. His wife (Gul Panag) thinks he has married a loser and nags her. One day, a stranger (Sarika in a cameo) tells SV that she suspects her husband of infidelity and asks him to take some pictures to prove his infidelity.
Sarika then meets with an accident. Finding out how this accident happened is the "whodunnit" part of the story.
The movie is well directed. No foreign locales, no designer clothes, no songs-dances. Abhay Deol goes into the skin of the character and looks very convicing as a middle class married man. He is far fetched from his "kuttey kaminey" uttering Uncle or "Jat Da Puttar" cousins. He is a victim of circumstances and plays it very efficiently. Gul Panag has a small roles but acts very well. She looks like a typical middle-class wife. Rest of the cast (Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Raima Sen) acts well including the guy who plays Abhay Deol's brother-in-law ("saala"
.
The movie is bit slow-paced but still manages to hold your attention. The scenery of Rajasthan is very well shot (although I would rate the landscape photography in "Dor" and "Lekin" a bit better).
Worth seeing if you haven't seen it.
Isnt it bit old release? middle of 2008 I guess..but its worth watch for sure. Class of story and acting..

-Ek chattis ki last local-beautifully done with Neha Dhupia-this one is hilarious

Yes. It is a bit "old" release, but I got to watch it now thanks to Brampton library.
It is "inspired" by Jack Nicholson's "Chinatown", but critics say it is not a total copy, but a "class of its own"

How about Socha Na tha..and Honeymoon travels..? In honeymoon travels he did his best among all other amazing actors.

Yes, same here! I saw Dev D and Ahista Ahista (though I did not like the ending). Never ehard abt Ek chattis ki last local. Hmm.. let me check it out. Hope the Deols let him grow in the industry.
