Well, I do not know if you get points because you are on Work Permit.
I came on a Work Permit in Jan 1999 and applied for PR in July 1999.
I remember, I did not see anywhere that would get me any points.
However, the fact that you know the life here and has potential skills -
you will get PR easily. It does help.
