I am a PR living in Canada from last 2 years. My first year income was ~$5K, last year was ~$30K (have not got the assesment yet/have T4). I recently got laid off from my job and am currently on EI
My parents are visiting US later this summer and want to visit Canada. My father has a job and property in India and they have visited US couple of times in the past.
With my current situation can I sponsor them for visitor visa? What options do I have?
You can try from USA.
Chances are that from USA visitor visa can be got more easily.
Speak to your MP/MPP and get a letter from him saying that though you are on EI , it was a lay off and that you are actively looking for a job .you may get it.
If visa is applied in india, i would NOT bet on it.
In USA, it is give in the morning and the decision is known during interview. I suggest going to the Canadian counsulate in Person since it is not a straight forward case.
