I'm a new PR(in-Canada class) and about to get a job with Fed. Govt. I mean I've passed all the tests and References etc; however the final result will be in Nov. Since I was considered a good candidate the manager/Interviewer/recruiter wants to offer me a Contract position (for now-asap) and for that I need quick Security Check. She has asked me to contact Canadian Embassy in New Delhi in order to speed-up?

I was wondering if any one had a similar experience or have some knowledge of ways to get this through? Or any other agency like Indian High Commission in Ottawa or any contact details, plz,.

I registered with Govt. job site- http://jobs-emplois.gc.ca/menu/home_e.htm
And applied for some of them, got shortlisted for many, some gave me an online weekly exam, some I passed and got the news after 1 / 1.5 months. Then called for interview, gave interview (+ some had small written exam too). Then they checked References, and then decided I was a successful candidate and may be given a job. But due to language test results the final result would be published end of this year....But the manager who interviewed me gave me an offer (contract position). But I need my policeésecurity clearnace, which is done by OLSIS(sth. like that)....
So I wanted to get (as advised by the one who interviewed me) my security clearnace faster....

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions????

Does anyone know about agencies dealing with govt. IT jobs in Toronto/GTA?

But I've not yet got the job as I'm waiting for police/security clearance. And for me too it has already been 7months and it will atleast take another 2months....so yes it does takes time.

However for Contract positions(this could be a way to enter the big bad world of fed. Govt. jobs) there are agencies. I know one in Ottawa named Artemp (www (dot) artemp (dot) ca). I guess one can register with this in the same way as HR agencies, and its for free. And Govt. asks for personnel from these agencies....

So if someone uses this or has any experience do let me know, I was shocked when I learn about this agency they also help in initiating your Police/Security check which could be handy at any time.
