Hello CDs,

I have heard Niagara fall firework on Canada Day is worth watching and should see at least once. I am planning to go this time. My questions are?

1) What is the traffic situation that day in Niagara?

2) Where do we park car? I am sure official parking must be unavailable depending on the time you reach there.

3) What is the best schedule to follow that day? (ex. What time to leave TORONTO/Niagara to avoid traffic etc)

4) Which is the best area/location from where both fall and Firework can be enjoyed at maximum?

5) Any other suggestion/tips.

Thanks a lot for your input.

Hi !
I went to Niagara falls on Canada day two years back . I left home around 11.00 A.M ( supposedly non peak hours ) ..It took 4.5 hrs to reach (versus 2 hrs in regular days ) . On the way back we left before the firework ended . I could reach home only after 7 hours .. This was one of the most awful experience I ever had . I will never recommend anyone to take the chance . Firework is great but not worth of all this pain ..The best option is to book a hotel for overnight stay if possible .

Thanks for sharing your experience, AG.
I’ll have to re-think on my plan. Waiting for other CD’s input.

I remember last year my friend took her sister and her kids (who were visiting them). They left at noon from toronto alongwith couple of families. The plan was to come back after the fire works. Packed the food and all the stuff. I was also invited but I declined. I got a call from my friend at 7.00 PM that he is back - they could not find parking spot (forget about the picnic). He kept on driving and showed the visitors the niagara fall from the car. Coming and going took them 7 hours.

Thanks quest and Desi # 1 for sharing your thoughts. Firstly, I thought to take a chance but when I read two cases of not to see firework and return, I have almost decided not to take a risk. It is bizarre experience when it take 7 hrs in return.

Why so many people go there?

This situation looks like marriage at somewhat level --- ‘Jo laddu khaye vo bhi pachhtaye, na khaye vo bhi pachhtaye’ :D  :p

Well I myself went there b`cos it didnt clicked to me that situation might be so bad with traffic .. Secondly I was not smart enough to ask this Q on board to save potential hassles ..
On top of it my parents were visiting me so I decided to reach anyway even though the traffic was bad all the way after burlington ...
