Hi CD friends,
Today I ordered for my first Iphone 3G. Its gonna be a 16 GB black. I have been seeing lots of reviews and videos on you tube etc and finding so far everything in line. Has any one of you got a hands on with Iphone? I mean your satisfaction level so far?
I wanted to go for the blackberry bold, but other than the typing comfort, I found Iphone to be a more useful, feature full device.
Can anyone tell me, whether it works with MS outlook?
regards,
Vj.
I bought a 16GB iphone
I bought the same 16GB + Black iphone and so far I am impressed with its performance. There are certain things that I don't like about it but the things I like about the iphone outrun.
I am a person who had been longing for quite some time for one piece of technology for phone, browsing, song, photo etc.. etc., and iphone3G came as a gadget I was looking for all these years. Its like you get a 16 GB iPOD+Phone+all others. The quality of the images in the screen too impressive.
I enjoyed the blackberry too especially its QWERTY keyboard but the sad part is its screen which is not as big (good) as iphone. Besides the PUSH mail in iphone is still going stay inferior compared to the RIM mailing technology means from business perspective, BB will do better.
Overall I am quite happy with the phone. Also, note that there are lot of custom (free) applications available like Gas price checker etc..., etc., and I haven't started using either.
I didn't choose the visual voicemail, remained with the conventional instead. Overall, my bill is going to be about $35 dollar more than my current bill but I have whopping 6 GB data limit. (The good thing I like about its Data capability is that it switches to use your WIFI as soon as you get home, so you don't really use your airtime when you're browsing while at home).

I am not sure if unlocked or cracked iphones work equally well - people have complained about loss of some services.

It seems they (or one thier applications providers) secretly track your usuage and it will not be very far when they can nail you down to an unauthorised usage (cracked phone).
Officially, you are allowed to buy a phone only with an activated plan ans using a credit card - I havent even tried to buy one, so I am not sure what is true..
A few those who have owned in Toronto and I know them, are very happy with it, but they have official connections.
Comments about the first iphone 3G owner in Mumbai...

Thanks JRF,
Now do you have nay idea of the compatibility of this phone with MS Outlook? I have an email address through my domain and wish to know, whether would I be able to get emails on iphone?
Regards,
VJ.
No first hand information on that part but it has a mail program which easily connects to Google , yahoo mail etc.., (No need to enter userid/ password every time), hopefully it will connect to your exchange server also but I have never tried it. I still feel this gizmo is more of fancy toy for non professional use compared to RIM...
