Whatever happened to singer Anwar?

There was a singer by name Anwar in the late 70s and early 80s. I was listening to him in the old Ahista Ahista (nazar se …), Krodhi (chal chameli baag mein). He sounded like Rafi in Ahista Ahista.
Whatever happened to him? Did he move on to Ghazals?

He is still around doing stage shows singing Rafi songs.
