By the time you start saving you are already hobbling around and time to retire. Forget about saving. I forgot about it a long time ago. Maybe once in a few years you can afford to visit relative in India and with the rest of the pocket money you have left you can do some shopping and come back. Hey we have taxes here. The more you earn the more you pay the less you have in your bank. With your present background you will not save. But then you are young and have plenty of time to make it. All depends how you plan your future. Good Luck.
sahib, u said we have taxes in Canada... I was wondering, don't they pay taxes in india or is it like the ME, tax-free?
yup, we have taxes in North America. They say there are two sure things in life, Death and the Tax Man. Boy is that EVER so TRUE!! & &
but it's not so bad as all that. u get used to it... i think...
the more u earn tho, the higher ur standard of living, and yes, u pay more taxes but then that's just the way things are. u accept it, it's the system and it's fair for everyone.
i agree that trips abroad, esp. to asia with yr entire family, are gonna be damn expensive, but ... do u really need to go back whole lot? u and ur spouse can take vacations camping in the great outdoors in Canada or the US, u can go see Alaska on a cruise.. cheap too. there's lots u can do here. u can embrace the western way of life and not have a large family like people do back in asia... that should help curtail expenses a lot too...
if it's just a husband and wife and u r willing to work real hard (long hours too sometimes), u can make it. i wouldn't give up. it'll take about ten years atleast to finally get some decent footing in life but isn't that the norm nearly everywhere? just my two cents worth...

I, a person who has been criticized on this forum as one who writes negative comments about Canada, totally agree with beautysalon. This country is for people like you Veer......persons who have no hangups, and are willing to work their butt off, with the purpose very clear in mind.
I have seen uneducated (so to say) Punjabi families, who could take out $100k just when you wanted it, have seen people who could afford to give their sons gifts of $250k as equity to start a new franchise business - and they all came here when they were young and willing to fight.
I would say, the term \"american Dream\" evolved due to persons who had this purpose in mind - make money. Yes you can make money, provided you do not have the dream to work in white collar jobs ONLY - but that too you can do if you are able to get local professional degree. I have seen one such person who started his job making photocopies for managers/officers in a bank, took evening classes etc, and today is the chief of one of the foreign banks (yes he is an Indian residing in Toronto).

Oh yes beautysalon. India has income taxes but not 29% if you are earning 28K. The ME is tax free as you know.
The question was can you save here. I do not think it is that easy.
This is not a country where you can save. It is a country where you can enjoy quality of life like blue skies and clean air to breath.
Hi Chandresh!
I've just landed on 27/03 with my wife. I've put myself up with a very good indian family as a p.g accomodation.
AS u have said, PEOPLE WITH NO HANG UPS DO WELL HERE, at least make some money.
I need ur guidance to at least start my earning meter - my wife & me are ready to do any job (any means any, even cash jobs). If u have any info pls let me know - IT WILL OF GREAT HELP- please
