I am Shiva from Hyderabad India planning for my post graduate diploma in any 1 of the community colleges in Toronto.....
I am planning for Canada as that I lost my job..... And it is not so easy for me to get job in India..... Now so I thought of planning for my studies in Canada...
Also I enquired with many consultants in and they did not give the best of information and they tried to cheat me.... so please give ur suggestions ...
I have the following doubts or questions and i need ur replies and suggestions in this regard.... hope all the canadian desi's give me the best suggestions...
1. If I clear my Post graduate diploma in merit will it help to get a job in Canada.....? I am B.Tech IT at present ...
2. Can I find part time jobs in Toronto is it easy or very difficult to find jobs ss ..
3. How is the recession effect in Canada ... any guess about recovery time... Also about me I don’t drink and smoke and don’t spend that much of money what will be my monthly expenditure...
4. Are the climatic conditions (heard about severe cold) that hard to live in Canada...
5. Will have to face "Muggers" as of the US .....

Hi Welcome to canadian desi and welcome as a future tax payer to Canada.
For sure your Cdn. Diploma will assist you greatly in getting a good job in Canada. IT is one of the hottest and probably the only one in which you can get jobs easily and which is not affcected by the Racisom factor

Easy to find labour jobs for sure. Besides you can do odd easy jobs like pizza delivery / making, grocery store cashier, working in gas station as cashier etc... You can get paid on payroll (you have to pay tax) or be on cash (no need to pay tax, EI, CPP etc...). However only jobs like Pizza delivery, Desi grocery cashier, some gas stn. jobs come for cash

Recession has affected Canada greatly. But not the IT sector. It is booming. Many IT companies are hiring still. Also IT institutes teaching SAP are getting many students.

Toronto has 9 months cold where 6 months you can see minus temp. as well as snow

Nope. Never. Canada in fact welcomes immigrants and respects them , knowing that most of them do the jobs which no cdn. will do and in that way that we are helping Canada to fill in un wanted jobs as well as pay to fill the coffers for Tax, EI, CPP and as well as spend on rent, food, service which keeps Canadagrowing and helps to pay for the aboriginals up north.
Welcome to canada. We are eagerly awaiting your arrival. If the schedule works out, I can meet you at the airport (in my car) and transport your to your college / temp. accomodation etc...

Ok. Honestly, I would not ask or give any such details. Not alteast based on one question/answer over a forum. Sorry.
For your questions, I'd say, bring faith and honesty. And you should be fine. Yes, weather is harsh. But I have yet to see a place on this planet where weather and life both are real easy and smooth.
Regarding job, yes it's tough. But as I said, keep faith and hope alive. Each sector has been effected. Some early. Some late. But none has escaped.
TK's response might be a perfect example of how grass is always green on the other side of fence. TK's response are more of personnel experience and less of general help.
