Hi,

I am planning to return to India in the next 3-4 months due to my mother's ill health (she has been diagnosed with late stage cancer). I have been in Canada for just over 5 years; my wife is a citizen and we just had twin boys a month ago. Would appreciate hearing from people who have gone back to India re their experiences...

Thanks!

If your primary purpose for going back to India is to be with your Mom , then other people's experiences do not matter. Everybody goes to India from US/ Canada not because they have earned enough money but because they have bigger /better priorities .

Go back and be with your mom and design your life around it . You will be fine ...

You will have the usual problems faced by a billion Indians (electricity, Water shortage, pollution , Corruption etc etc ) but the important thing is that you will be with your mother and that should be enough reason to go.

Are you a Canadian citizen as well?
If so, your first issue will be to re-acquire Indian citizenship so that you can work, have bank accounts, own property, etc.
The other option is to acquire a job that places you in India such that you can remain a Canadian PR/citizen and have work authorization in India.

The PEOPLE !.

A decade ago they used to excited to meet you and talk about Phoren Land.

Now a days the shine is gone as every house has a person living abroad.

People are more money minded and have less time for social interaction.

Your own friends whom you had left behind a few years ago are all busy doing their thing and hence unlike they meeting you, they'll expect you to go and meet them. They will also be very busy in their profession or following the stock market and hence less focus on you.

We from abroad will look slightly docile in comparison the people in India.

Hence we need to adjust to this change which has happened in the last 5 years.

With certain restrictions, probably yes.
