As time progressed, people moved up in their standards of privacy, and decided for themselves that they could maintain a higher level of standards and also provide to their children some privacy and also get some for themselves. This they extended into the accommodations too. That is why we hear a common comment when you see two love birds making out on the streets... "GO GET A ROOM".
And so they advice that you get a room for each, if it is affordable or limit their family sizes to suit their living standards. With this is in mind when a SUPERINTENDENT of a building, asks you how many children you have, it is to see how well you all can settle down in that apartment building and your affordability to go with it. Some take a three BR apartment with one kid, just in case family drops in suddenly. You should see how the rentals are structured too to understand the set up here.
More over when people start their work schedule and find that they are into shift work and will need rest without any disturbance, you will see the great advantage when it happens. You will understand it in due course when the family starts to mature and everyone enjoys a good nights rest with tranquility in their own surroundings and without the need to share a bed with others or stack themselves in a bunk bed.
Depending on the ages of these children, some landlords, for a very brief time will not question you about your judgment. Most of them are very strict. The difference in rent might not amount to much more than a sum of $100.00. So you be the judge of things based upon the ages of the children and their maturity and the points raised about your privacy.
You might see yourself at a different standard than you are used to and you did not know that you have moved yourself to a higher level without your own knowledge. Based upon this, you look for a suitable accommodation, for a longer extended stay.
Welcome to the FIRST culture shock.!!
