It looks like that cricketers started opting for cash rich IPL over the country. It is interesting to know the case of Latish Malinga who is just 27 years old and playing in IPL. He has been told to return to join Srilanka Cricket Team for the forthcoming tour to England. All of a sudden he declared retirement from the test cricket citing the reasons for not able to bowl for a longer period (due to knee injury) but available for the shorter version of the games like one day and T20. It is evident that SLC is under huge debt and not paying enough to the talented players who can earn a lot in IPL.
The same is the case is of Chris Gayle who opted for Royal Challengers and did not provide himself for WICB for the current series against Pakistan. He made a marvellous come back to IPL with his electrifying innings of a 55 ball century but was unable to play for WI and recovering from the injury after the world cup series.
