Dear adamthroat, Fh, TK, SS, thank you so much for clarifying the point. Honestly I appreciate all of you for being so helpful.
FH, will go by link also, but believe me I am so occupied with so many things going on in parallel that going through miniature details of each and every subject is virtually impossible for me. Here is when I approach friends like you, whom I have always found ready to help, full marks to all of you 👍🏿

Please tell now that when is the best time to apply for Child benefits and others. Because the benefits I am receiving now will go upto June probably. So should I apply in somewhere may / June for the next term benefits or now itself I should apply. Also as I submitted my tax return through a volunteer clinic, based upon our recent tax return they showed us our next term benefits calculation also. My point is that still I need to apply them seperate ly and most importantly ....when ! Thanks

Dear TK, as I mentioned earlier that CRA recent reply says that they will calculate our GST, trillium etc later and intimate us in June July. But they didn't say anything about child benefits. Does it mean I don't need to apply for GST, trillium etc but only child benefits. Thanks

If CRA says so then it must be correct,
So apply for CCTB/ Universal and other federal low income schemes.
Search the internet (Google) to get the forms and to print it out and to send it to the concerned dept..
Addresses will be all across the country fromk Newfoundland to Calgary. Send it as requested.

Since CD's donot have a check list to share with you, i would request you to prepare one and tick off each application of the benefit and also track it.

There are many schemes that are around. In 2008, when I was in waterloo, the govt., was promoting a scheme to subsidize the utility cost that I pay (for low earners only). So you must be sharp and focussed,

Always invest in a good laptop, fast internet and a printer. It is much needed in Canada.

1.You HAVE to apply for OTB ( Trillium ) benefits when you file your tax return . There is a box you have to tick mark.

2.You NO longer have to apply for GST/HST quarterly benefits anymore when you file your tax return, from this year onwards , they are automatic now. But upto last year , you had to apply for that also by ticking a box , when you filed a return.

3. Child benefits there are various federal & provincial benefits ( depending upon where you live ).

This is a very GOOD gov. site to find out various benefits you qualify for depending on your age, family situation, income etc.

Welcome to the Benefits Finder :

http://www.canadabenefits.gc.ca/f.1.2cw.3zardq.5esti.4ns@.jsp

The general thumb rule is if you are in doubt, apply for it anyways. If you are eligible & qualify for it , the gov. will let you know , and if you don't qualify they will let you know that as well..the worst thing is that they will say NO, that's all.

But atleast you won't lose out on benefits you were entitled to, because you didn't apply or there was inaction from you & you had no knowledge.

You will surprised how many people ( especially seniors & families ) lose out on various gov. benefits like OAS, GIS, CPP , Child benefits , EI benefits, GST/HST , Trillium benefits etc etc , simply because they missed the deadline or didn't apply in the first place.

This is NOT welfare, these are benefits & tax rebates & credits , that you are entitled to , as you have paid into the system & contributed to it. There is NO shame in applying for them , its all legal & official.

Excellent Adam !

Great source of information.

In all the years that I have been on CD, I have never seen anyone explain it so beautifully, in a step by step process and in simple English.

You are an asset to CD.
