An Imigration Consultant helps in presenting ur application in a professional manner which may save u 4m the otherwise delay . Though they DO NOT have any magic potions which can make major difference but they can help those applicants who find themselves on the borderline with the virtue of their experience .

People who can read the site , have access to TCS / Canadiandesi and are literate enough 2 file and Application form and above all are confident of a score > 67 should apply themselves properly y arranging and displaying the application in a correct format.

I ve seen Consultant based people failing @ the Interview and non Consultant based guys like me getting through . Now I know of a guy who is 42 years of age is working as a Primary Teacher ........... Now this guy wud def need 2 go thru a Consultant !!

Regds ,

If choosing a consultant, remember that he/she needs to be registered with the CIC,
try out lawyers, they can also appeal and represent you in court if needed .

Our Canadadesi resident lawyer can be a good choice.

I agree with Manjeet. Going through consultants also helps because:

1) The process of immigration is very long ( 2 - 3) years and the CIC rules keep on changing. So, the consultant keeps on updating you about the new rules. If any additional documents are required, the consultant will follow up with you and see that you submit it. This is useful especially for people who are in busy jobs or travel frequently.

2) As mentioned by Manjeet " I personally feel that agents do help prepare your case and i think one should not hesitate hiring one if you feel you need one. My personal experience has been great going through agent. " I totally agree with Manjeet.

Guys,
not to be cynical but
Go for consultants only if you are outright dumb (anpadh, jaahil gawaar) or have loads of cash (i.e., rayeez baap/pardada ke bigde hue aulaad).

The rules listed on the CIC website are explicit and you do not need anything else. Regarding rule changes..As I mentioned in a previous post,
If you apply , say today, and you receive a letter of acknowledgement; then if the rules change next month then, you wont be governed by the new rules (in most cases, unless there are fee changes).
The only way to avoid that confusion is to periodically visit the CIC website and Canadiandesi.ca.

Of cos if you are desperately trying to sponsor someone, then take the help of a lawyer and only a lawyer. Even here, make sure that the lawyer is registered for practice in Canada. Canadian immigration is the most simple of all immigration procedures, with European countries being the toughest.
Cheerz

My 2 cents. Personally I take the side of people who say 'no' to a consultant. This comes from someone who initially applied in India (in 1996) and had the file moved to London (in 2000). I did everything on my own. The application form, checklist, guidebook, etc. available on the CIC site are clear and detailed enough. If some document is missing they will let you know and give you a couple of months to get back - this might delay the process by a few months but also remember that you're saving a substantial amount of money which can be better used elsewhere.

Daks

Now time is change, Immi processing takes too much time and if your file missing something then they dont care you and delay your processing.

Please think, everybody has a different timefram to clear their file even the same education and same experience person has different timefram for processing, ITS TOTALLY DEPEND ON YOUR PRESENTATION AND FILE'S PROFILE.

If you dont want to take any risk then hire good Consultant (its also tough job).

Canadian Immigration Department is Against Human Being and they never reply your query. Why they charge us too much processing fee for processing immi file? They have to atleast reply? They are nonsense people, even you go CIC, Delhi office for inquiry they never give you good response and now they have stopped personal inquiry window at Delhi.

They takes passport for stamping and keep with them 1 to 3 months and we have no right to ask any question or inquire about our passport, WHAT A GUNDA GIRI !

When our file is under CIC immi process, we feel that we are like Refugee.

Best of luck

Kap, so in your opinion taking the services of a consultant will alleviate your problem(s) ?

Kitne Bhole ho aap :)

FYI, getting the services of a "consultant" ( in India they would call them Dallal's / Brokers) does not in any way affect your chances of getting immigration.

Only a Lawyer (with the required credentials) can help effect a change, that too by appeals and litigation. A consultant is merely a Middleman (lack of finding a better word).

If you feel that your profile is weak then you should seek the help of a Lawyer and not a consultant ! I agree with you Kap abt the vagaries of file clearing. But trust me (and many others who have faced this situation), taking the "services" of a consultant does not in any way make or break your case.

If your file is missing then you should retain the services of a Lawyer ! NOt a consultant !
