Yes it's very important to get officially translated and notarised copies of all mark sheets and ceryificates.
As far as consultants are concerned, sarcastic remarks about them make no difference to them, for they know people will still take their services.
If they were to be of no use, than CIC would have clearly stated to stay clear from them, and wouldn't have introduced regulations, to give some control over their functioning.
Some of us are professionals and take the help of professionals in other fields and vice versa.
I strongly recommend the services of immigration consultants.
They have a right to charge fees for their services.
I have hired one and would throw an open challenge to any one who thinks I'll be a flop after landing:p .
It's b'cos I'm a brick layer and don't have the time to fill in the forms:D
Wow all the hypocracy...Hippocrats.

Can you do all that on your own - sure you can !
You can similarly prepare your own taxes, fix your own car, decide what medicines to take to cure yourself, and so on.
Therefore, one should never have the need for the services of an accountant, an auto mechanic, a doctor and so on.

I don't understand this hatred against immigration consultants - it is so irrational.

I think you are comparing apples and oranges. PEople have a feeling that consultants can move things faster and if you read what consultants write.. in many cases it sounds like they have the key to faster processing of applications. An accountant does not make you feel that you need him to file taxes..

hmm !
You may be well versed with all the nuances of immigration law, but can't change your wipers and can't file your taxes.

I am a total idiot of law , I don't fix my car wipers as I don't have to change them in the last five years ,
Change the oil is 20 bucks , once in 3 months 4 times a Year equal to 80 Dollors,

With the 2000 dollars I save , I can fix my car for two to three years going to a mechanic,

Even if you go to the immgration lawyer he will give you a list of docs that one should get , and you have to do it yourself

If you try to aviod Ielts or try to manipulate in some way then for sure you can get a lawyer

funny thing is how can we compare filling a simple forum with car repairs etc !
CIC itself made the docs so simple that there is no use of any immigration lawers ,

How much effort you need to put on filling the form ? 10 hours ? or 20 hours ?
or say may be 40 hours i.e a full week job,
40 *50 = 2000 dollors , i.e after tax , which you can do at your own spare time,

If you earn more than that for sure Yes it makes sense to go to a lawyer , or If you cannot read the Docs true you can go to a lawyer ,
else there is no advantage of going to lawyers
