How much does Hydro and water cost in a 850-1000 sq ft, 2 bedroom apartment in Mississauga or Brampton? I am moving in March and need to know how much expenses we have. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you moving into a rental apartment. The reason why I ask is 'cause for most rental aparments the cost of heat, hydro and water is included in the monthly rent.

I havent paid myself, but have spoken to a lot of supers in rental apartments and they come in the range of $25-$35 without AC in summer. This is just an average estimate, largely depending on individual usage. The best would be to ask the super and a few tenants. You can wait in the lobby and i am sure you will bump into a few (around 6 pm when most people are returning)

All the best and do post your findings for other CDs knowledge.

With little usage of hydro my bill is around $108 (with mild usage of a stand alone heater) for 2 months. Without the heater , the bill was $78 for 2 months. I use very little hydro and i use just 2 tubelights for light and limited cooking.
Hydro charges themselves are not bad but the hydro delivery charges are much larger than the cost of hydro itself. My bill (as listed above) is including the delivery charges.
I suggest that you look for an apt. which offers all inclusive rate. In summer you canot be in canada without an A/C or 2 or 3 fans.

When I lived in an apartment, my average consumption was between 335 - 350 kwh bi-monthly, which translated to a bi-monthly bill of about $60. A fixed 'customer charge' of $30 was included in that bi-monthly bill (this was in Toronto; Brampton's fixed customer charge is lower, about $10 per month)

To provide a perspective on this consumption - it was as the only occupant of the apartment, and while I didn't use a stove for cooking, I did use a microwave oven quite extensively.

If you are able to estimate your consumption, you would be able to figure out the total amount of your bill for Brampton at the following link:

Thanks for all the valuable information. Could you also tell me how much 'heat' will be in an apartment. I noticed that heat was also not included in the apartment we are looking at. I am searching on the internet so I cannot go and ask the Sup or other residents. Thanks in advance.
