Dear CDs,
At the moment we are in a temporary accomodation in Brampton and want to move in May. I am looking for a good public school for my 6 yr old son.
In this forum I have seen some discussion about schools and life in general between Brampton and Missisauga areas.
However I am confused and not experienced enough to judge. So I would like to ask your opinion about which area and which school is better.
My priorities are:
1. We don't have any personal preferences for either Brampton or Missisauga.
2. I want to be in a place where it is good for kids both school wise and surronding atmosphere wise.
3.Also after school hours child care - which area is better - Brampton or Missisauga.
3. As I don't work now I don't have a choice to choose my place as per my job, and also it may take 8 months for me to get into my field. So I prefer to stay atleast near a good school.
5. Near to public transport as I don't drive. My husband can drive so it won't be a problem for him any way.
6. I heard that car insurances are high in Brampton than Missisauga. So can we balance a bit high rent in Missisauga with high car insurance in Brampton--- please explain this clearly.
So weighing all these which area is preferable? We would be very thankful if the senior desis can guide us to rent in a decent area.
Many thanks
Sirisha.
Brampton is a more worse area than Mississauga for sure. There are no jobs in Brampton and hence you need a car to be there. It is a residential area.
Due to a certain community, Brampton schools are worse than Mississauga schools.
I would recommend you to move to Mississauga any day.
(if you move to Waterloo which is 100 kms away, it is a fantastic place to be for schools as there are no immigrants - and hence no jobs - and the place is good and safe).
When choosing a schools, survey the perimeter of the area that it serves. If it has community housing there, then it raises a warning bell.
Seniors can expand more.
Peace
