Hi,

I've looked at the Yellow Pages, etc. but still can't find a restaurant that has a function room, or a private dining room to either hire or use for free for about 40-50 people. Does anyone know of any? Does not have to be Indian, but I would prefer it. I've tried banquet halls but they can be quite expensive.

Brampton/Mississauga location.

Thanks for any suggesions.

Try "Nirvana".. I dont have the number, but it is one traffic light south of Britannia on Hy 10. They have a private room, where atleast 40 people can have their lunch/dinner..

A few that I can think of:

The Host on Hwy 7 and Leslie
Chauhan on Woodbine and ??? North of steels
Moti Mahal on Woodbine and 14th Ave.
Jakoonee (the spelling is not correct) at Hwy 7 and Leslie.

Good place . It is on 35 ,Brunel Road. Tel no is 905-501-5500.

Have been there several times. Food is good.
The Host near Sq. One.
Kama in upper Brampton.
Indian Sizzlers Shopper's World.
Clay Oven.

Crocodile Rock in Mississauga. I was there last week at a media event arranged by B4U- All professionals. Very good networking and excellent booze. Food was chicken wings, nachos, chicken fingers and the like.Good change from the usual Indian food and ambience scene. And the best part is everybody trying to outdo the other by using fancy English words. All conversation in English as everybody was from different Indian backgrounds. Reminded me of a Poona meet from days of old.Even met a dude I hadn't seen for 18 years! Both of us with greying temples now. Too much

Thanks for the suggestions...I've been to Jakoni's before, the food was OK, not that great and I've already enquired with The Host so waiting to hear back from them. I'll check the other two too.

I've also been to Nirvana's before too, really nice food...there was already a private party going on in the restaurant while we were there, wasn't very private as we could see everything...

Can someone tell me (I've not had much experience in organizing a party event before so cannot compare prices) if $2000 is a good deal to pay for food, booze (open bar) and table setting, chair covers, etc, for 40 people at a nice banquet hall? That is what a banquet hall has quoted me and I've got nothing to compare it too...maybe someone out there does...? It seems a little expensive to me...I was told the average price per head for non-veg meal was $25...however smaller restaurants like Novelty and Kwality have quoted me around the $9 per head for a non-veg meal....but if I go with just catering, then I've got to find a venue...and cost of booze...and DJ....it all adds up....I'm so confused!
