I am sure you can appreciate that people are not likely to tell you which school they send their kids to unless they know you well as it is a security hazard for the child/family.

Of course!!!! i apologise for my brash post written in a state of my frustration and confusion blurting out words from my heart. I completely understand the parents plight now as you just made me aware of the sensitivity and the delicacy of the situation and question. Thank you for all your answers and posts :)

Do children who live far from school , but not too far from the eligibility of the school bus service, use the public transport for getting to their schools?
even hill crest ave (1.4km frm school) does not cover bus eligibility jus coz it is short of .2 m of the bus area eligibility which is 1.6 m n above :s
i am wondering of the situation i would face in my first winter here ( heard many horror stories of the cold which gets into yours and kids bones!!)
just wanted to know if using public transport to get kids to school is practical --- how is the morning rush hour in the public bus around their school times?
a little insight of the situation and problems i would face during winter is appreciated.

Thanx everyone :)

We live approx. 20 mins walking from my son's school grade 4...... And we have a 2 yr old.... I walked all year to and from school and believe me...... All horror stories are exaggerated...... If you have sufficiently warm clothing..... Your child will love playing in the snow while walking to and from school...... We had to trudge through snow across a huge park..... But it was always fun.....

If someone is old..... Has a health problem..... Hates the cold totally.......These people will have problems......

Public transport is not such a great option.... School buses are not available for older kids...... There are however parents who pick and drop children (alongwith their own) from your apartment for a nominal feel of $100-150...... Usually they put up adverts on the notice board in the apartment laundry room.....Hope this helps....
