Good sense of humor TK!
In your suggestion, you should also have mention about car pooling with 2-3 other like minded folks. To save on gas/toll etc and you know more people in close space also help in keeping the place warm lol.

That reminds me a poor joke of school time:
One day a man saw his friend running behind the bus, when asked about it the friend replied "I am running behind the bus to save money that I would have spent for bus ticket" the man replies "You can save more if you run behind taxi" next day the friend was running behind the taxi.

Ashwani,
In Canada, I was not able to earn much. I had to resort to ideas like this to keep me living atleast pay cheque to pay cheque. I tried my best to find a good job, but I was not able to do so. Though my employer gave me only around $ 15 an hour, I overworked myself in his office for that salary that I was unable to find another good job.

Going to USA for shopping is good. Gas is cheap in NA and when the Cdn $ was at par, I was able to save atleast 50% of the money buying in USA rather than buying in Canada.

One time it was interesting in the Cdn. border as the border guard asked me where I stayed for the night. Instead of telling a lie that I stayed with friends or hotel (in which I might have been asked to give proof like hotel bill or friends tel. no) I told him that I slept in the car. Once I said this, I was taken for further questioning (where I could see people rip of a Black person's car). The guard told me that he does not buy my story but anyways let me go, without ripping my car apart.

Peace by Murali

Yeah let it go Murali, like most of the desi users, Ashwani probably did not know about your ordeals in Canada ;) and how better now it is for you in God's own land. And if Cdn. border guard did not believe, then who the heck Ashwani is... :)

BTW, after thanksgiving sale is more of hype..you should really go after Christmas..the deals that time are far better than any other sale.. take a minute to think why would shops offer better deals when the season is about to start. The deals are offered when the season is about to end and they have to get rid of excess stock.
On an average you would be saving 20% to the cost of the same material over here...so your real saving starts for when your spending is above $1000 (as you will be spending at least $200 on gas, toll, ladging, eating etc).. i.e. if you are planning to spend less than $1000, it absolutely does not make sense to go shopping there unless you have other objectives such as change, outing, extra money etc.

Good luck!

I am still confused, what do we shop there ? do you people collect a list over the year to buy only on discounted days or from locations like grove?
I think this leads to buying unecessary things.
