Pink slips are a norm these days. Besides where are the 18,000 cuts going to come from? What is the break up of the countries / cities that may be affected.
With RIM breaking up, the realestate of K-W did not crash. people just went to other start ups.
Bangalore is not much dependant on MicroSoft employees for its GDP. But I will agree that bengaluru is over dependant on IT in contrast with Chennai which has diversified !

Most of the lay offs are coming from the Nokia arm of MS that it acquired. There is lot of redundancy. Real MS staff lay offs are abt 5,500. Nothing much changes in Indian operations of MS. So forget abt corrections in real estate.
