I recently received a mail from my friend, stating that they are starting "Indian Idol" on TV in India, with Farah Khan, Sonu NIgam and ANu Malik as judges.
THis makes me sick. That is too much of plagarism.
We already have "Meri Awaaz Suno" and "Sa Re Ga Ma", much before "American
Idol" and "Canadian Idol" were invented. Why do we need to copy USA, when
they have already copied from us?
This is very similar to Indians trying to imitate US by doing "YOGA"
I don't think Indian Idol will be a bad idea!!
Everyone knows how much popular was 'KAUN BANEGE KROROPATI' which is basically a carbon copy of ''Who Wants to be a millionaire''
I still follow it everyday between 7:30 and 8:00 PM in ABC channel

I am pretty sure that Indian idol will be a licensed version of American Idol, just as Canadian Idol is ..
However, I must agree with meghal. Why do folks in India need Indian Idol ? Afterall , TVS Sa Re Ga Ma was a huge hit in its time. In fact, Sanjeevani (the singer in Kareeb) and Siza Roy (the singer in the Jagjit Singh album - Cry for C.R.Y) were winners of Sa re Ga Ma

Which is why AI (or its Indian version) is not a true way of judging ppl.
Come on... a music director like Naushad or a lyricist like Lt. Anand Bakshi coming and judging someone makes sense... not aam janta-janardhan !

The entire point is about imitating (even with copyrights) American TV. Why can't we have a pride in the fact that such competition exists since more than 10 years, while American Idol is hardly 3-4 year old concept.
Anway, it is promoted by Sony TV, and as usual trend, is promoted towards todays "youth". So while we ramble here, people in India will see that programme, and Sony will make big bucks.

They are choosing the people only rom few states
What about the remaining states, they too are in India.
They believe that Indian Idol cann't be from these states.
And the selection is also too funny.
No seriousness in selecting the participants
